There’s a deeper shift happening in agentic AI + fintech, and it’s quieter than people think...
Last week I was at a Build with AI session by GDG Nova Lima with Matheus Freitas Martins, an event where you actually build, not just listen.
We worked on AI agents using Google ADK on Google Cloud, and it does change your perspective. It’s no longer about isolated prompts, but about systems that can take actions, connect tools and handle real tasks end to end.
The opening with André Gustavo Mendes Silva and Euller Silva, together with Plank and Frederico Carneiro, brought a grounded view of how this is already being applied.
Then codelabs with Pedro Lara, Fernando Costa and Alexandre Alves Andrade, plus strong contributions from FIAP.
One thing that stood out from the discussions, and even from the ecosystem shown, is how deeply fintechs are already involved. Big players like PayPal, Stripe, Tross (Previously Ayden) and Mastercard, etc, are already moving in this direction.
There’s a clear movement towards enabling agents to actually transact, not just suggest. Payment providers, card networks and infra players are building protocols where agents can initiate purchases using constrained permissions, identity layers and transaction rules, essentially acting on behalf of users, but within secure, auditable boundaries.
What stood out is how quickly this is moving beyond experimentation. It’s not hard to imagine teams being built around agents, not just as tools, but as active parts of operations. Small groups achieving what used to require entire departments.
That shift feels global, and closer than it seems, feels like we’re only just starting to see what this enables...
